Settings for incoming and outgoing mail (for all clients)

If you have enabled an email account in your hosting plan, you can use the following instructions to download the software and set up the client. If you haven't created an email account, you can create a new one in the control panel.

Email Client Software

An email client is a software to be installed and used for example on a computer or mobile device. Below is a list of some of the most common operating systems and clients for them.

Connection Settings

After you have installed email client software, you can open it to set up the settings for the client.

Reading email / Incoming server settings

Settings should be set according to the protocol to be used (POP3, SSL POP3, IMAP or SSL IMAP, have a look below). The password you need to use is the one you have set up for the email account in the control panel.

POP3

  • Mail Server / Incoming Server: mail.avaruus.net
  • Username / Login Name: matti.meikalainen@omaverkkotunnus.fi
  • Port / Portti: 110

SSL POP3 (encypted connection)

  • Mail Server / Incoming Server / Saapuvan postin palvelin: mail.avaruus.net
  • Username / Login Name: jon.snow@mydomain.fi
  • Port: 995

IMAP

  • Mail Server / Incoming Server / Saapuvan postin palvelin: mail.avaruus.net
  • Username / Login Name: jon.snow@mydomain.fi
  • Port: 143

SSL IMAP (encypted connection)

  • Mail Server / Incoming Server / Saapuvan postin palvelin: mail.avaruus.net
  • Username / Login Name: jon.snow@mydomain.fi
  • Port: 993

Please remember that you cannot get the connection work until you have created an email account, respectively.

Sending email / outgoing server settings

Primarily, you should use SMTP server by your own Internet operator for sending email outside. Usually SMTP server address will be put in a field named  ”SMTP Server” or ”Outgoing mail server”.

Below is a list of SMTP servers of some of the most used Finnish Internet operators. If your operator is not listed, please contact the operator to get instructions.

  • Elisa: smtp.kolumbus.fi
  • Sonera: mail.inet.fi
  • DNA: smtp.dnainternet.net
  • Welho: smtp.welho.com
  • PPO: smtp.kotinet.com

Port: 25

SSL/TLS: No, disabled

Authentication: No, disabled
